Teracopy is free and open source software that allows you to copy, move, cut, and paste any set of files or folders with greater speed and security than the default Windows Explorer. Unlike Windows Explorer, if it encounters an error during the transfer, it will not pause, but retry the file transfer several times, in such a way that if the error persists, it will skip it and continue transferring the rest of the data.

Simple and user-friendly interface

Teracopy is easier to use than some users give it credit for. The program presents a convenient and intuitive interface, meaning that most users won't need a tutorial or instructions before using it. Just choose the folder or files you want to copy (source) and where to copy them. After this, you can choose between several options: Copy, Move, Test, Verify, or Delete. Copy, Move, and Delete do exactly what you'd expect. Clicking Test allows you to check that there are no corrupted files. Verify, however, allows you to confirm that, once the file transfer has finished, no problems have been found.

Differences with the Teracopy PRO version

Just as with many similar apps, the main difference between Teracopy and the corresponding PRO version is that the licensed version can be used within a work environment. In other words, you can use the free version at home, but if you want to use it for work purposes, you should buy a key. In addition, Teracopy PRO allows you to export the reports with the transfer results in HTML or CSV format. This, of course, is particularly useful in work contexts. It's also important to note that the purchased license remains available to you for life. Once you buy the license, it's yours forever.

Teracopy vs FastCopy, which is better?

Both Teracopy and FastCopy are two excellent alternatives in the world of file transfers. Both are far superior to Windows Explorer in speed and reliability, so both are recommended for transferring large volumes of data. There is no definite winner in transfer speed, so the choice between the two programs is a matter of taste more than anything else. FastCopy is a bit lighter, but both programs take up very little space and don't consume many resources.

The best way to copy files on your PC

Download Teracopy if you regularly carry out file transfers on a PC. With this program, you can start transfers safely, knowing you can leave them unattended. In other words, you can transfer large volumes of files without worrying about any errors that will pause the whole process. This is a great tool for moving folders with very large files.

TeraCopy is crap. Why? Because it fragments the files, even if copied to a blank, freshly formatted hdd. I compared it to UltraCopier, GS RichCopy 360 and KillCopy. These programs do not unnecessarily...See more
